During a trip to India in 2003, Adam Green had his 'eureka moment' and realised how flexible packs filled in vending machines (PostPackTM vending) could work. He had looked at the vending industry and been struck how time and labour intensive it was to vend bottled water and soft drinks. Inspiration came from witnessing street vendors selling water in plastic bags to people who could not afford bottled water. Adam left his job in the City to realise his vision and set up WaterWerkz. Having taken the first steps to patent the concept, he was joined by his partners who, like him, saw the business potential of PostPackTM Vending and the PouchLinkTM concept was born.

Steven Jenkins had 27 years of vending experience; Steven Douglas brought technical and commercial expertise to the team, whilst Geoff Read, founder of Ballygowan Water, added an invaluable insight into the drinks industry. Further applications, such as drinks dispense and product packaging were identified and systems subsequently developed. In 2006, IMI Cornelius, world leading manufacturer and supplier of complete solutions to the out-of-home drinks dispense market, made a strategic investment in WaterWerkz, impressed by the opportunities the PouchLinkTM system offered.
